AirBase is the air quality information system maintained by the EEA through the European topic centre on Air and Climate Change. It contains air quality data delivered annually under 97/101/EC Council Decision establishing a reciprocal exchange of information and data from networks and individual stations measuring ambient air pollution within the Member States.
Data are for trends and projections of energy, emissions of greenhouse gases and some other indicators up to 2030 and cover EU25 members countries. Data have been compiled by EEA's topic centre on Air and Climate Change.
This aerosol database has been established as part of the FP5/GMES project CREATE (Construction, use and delivery of an European aerosol database), which started in January 2002 and will continue until December 2004.
Parties to the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution perform monitoring at regional monitoring sites across Europe. The data are subject to national quality assessment prior to submission to the EMEP Chemical Coordinating Centre at NILU. The submitted data are further assessed by the EMEP-CCC in collaboration with the data originators before they are reported on an annual basis.
